Connecting via the EPWN

Finally the day has come and I have received my login EPWN information. And during one rainy evening, I decided to create my profile at the European Network. It is always a pleasurable experience to write about yourself, so I took it seriously: I created my mini-bio, uploaded my full C V, even added my photo. Well, as usual with the Internet, things like that, I thought, will bring zero results – how many job applications have I made via internet? Dozens! Not a single sign that anyone has ever seen them…

Well, since the rainy season was not ending and I was stuck in my apartment I started to browse idly through the numerous profiles of the EPWN members. I never connected the fact that I was not happy with my current job until I started browsing the profiles.

Suddenly, after having been through about 50 profiles, I stumbled upon a profile of the woman who worked for the company I had always dreamed to work for. She was from Paris. Well, I wrote directly to her with the request to talk about the company and find contacts to apply for a job. I received the message from her the next day in the morning. The next moment I was talking with her on the phone, learning from the insider about the culture, dynamics and structure of the company. I asked how I could apply and to my surprise she has given me the names of the key people in the States and Europe with their direct mobile numbers, email addresses and permission to tell them her name as a reference. Everything happened so quickly – I had to calm down to sort out my CV! It’s now being reviewed by the V P in the US. And no matter what the result will be, this showed the power of EPWN, since these types of contacts are usually hard to find and are inaccessible otherwise.
