Welcome from the Co-Presidents:

Dear WCN members,
We are excited to take over the WCN leadership for the next two years (May 2010 – May 2012) from Christina and Ursula who successfully led the WCN towards professional enhancement during the past two years.
Together with our Steering Committee, we look forward to the next two years and encourage open collaborations to help members discovering new career opportunities that will yield both professional and personal life benefits.
Caterina has been a member of the WCN since 2005. Together with Matanat she launched the WCN Mentoring Programme and has served as the Mentoring Coordinator for more than one year. Her professional engagements in finance, management and IT have allowed her to drive her career as a Financial Analyst to executive positions. For more than twenty years, she has worked for European and American multinationals in the private sectors and for international organizations in Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. She is also member of another Austrian association and is highly motivated to foster women’s careers. She is married and has a daughter.
Matanat has been a member of the WCN since September 2003 and has held various functions at the WCN during this time. She became a Steering Committee member in 2004-2005 and together with Caterina launched and coordinated the WCN Mentoring Programme in May 2009. Matanat is originally from Baku, Azerbaijan. She possesses Ph.D. degree in Expert Systems (1990) and MBA (2007). For more than twenty years, she has worked for the UN and international organizations and has built up a wealth of experience working in the CEE/CIS countries in the areas of organizational and personal development, programme and project management, strategic planning and management.
Our goals and priorities for the two years ahead
Our goal is to assist women to develop and enhance their career through focused networking opportunity and capacity building activities in order to gain both professional and personal life benefits.
We are proud that the WCN is multicultural network with more than thirty nationalities, various cultures and religions. Therefore, our first priority is to provide an open forum for sharing best practices and knowledge in area of gender and cultural diversity in Austria.
The second priority is to support career enhancement and maintain work-life balance, continuing implementing initiatives like Career Club and Mentoring Program. We will also provide support to the members who have just arrived in Vienna by introducing newcomers to the local community.
WCN members are professional women with different areas of expertise (Finance, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, Science, Education, Marketing, Sales, IT, Management) in the private and public sector as well as international organizations. Our third priority is to maintain an open and innovative networking platform that promotes learning from each other and leading forward new ideas and projects.
WCN is a chapter of the European Professional Women’s Network (EPWN), which has more than 3500 members of more than 90 nationalities in 17 city networks. Our forth priority is to strengthening co-operation with the European City Networks, other professional networks and partnering organizations in order to enhance our network capacity in areas of international career development, entrepreneurship and leadership.
Be part of it! We are looking forward to working together. Take a role of a member of the Steering Committee or a member of various project teams or a speaker sharing your valuable knowledge and experience with us! We are open to your innovative ideas and constructive feedbacks.
