Survey by Esade Business School - The Role of Females in Work Life Balance
Where: Take the Survey
Some women dream of changing the world! Yet, are some of them doing it? The role of females in creating a family friendly work environment
Many companies are implementing human resource practices in order to improve the work-life balance of their employees. But are practices such as flexi-time, job sharing, and tele-working efficient?
Lots of employees are afraid of taking advantage of these practices as they fear negative career consequences. Studies have shown that it may not be family-friendly practices alone that allow employees to better balance their work and family life but also the development of family-friendly work cultures.
What is the role of female managers in creating a family-friendly work culture? Do we see ourselves responsible for promoting such work environments? How do we articulate our attitude towards the promotion of a family-friendly work culture inside our organization?
The Institute of Labour Studies, ESADE Business School is carrying out a European wide survey on that important issue and would like to know your opinion.
All participants will be entered to win an Aveda-Wellness gift certificate worth 250 euros and will receive an executive summary of results. Click here to enter the survey!

Sex & Business uncovers gender-roles in our sex-lives…and at work, explains the similarities and asks if it isn’t time to question our „normal“ behaviour!
Zany, witty and unpolemic!
This show was a tremendous success when it played in German to full houses last year. Now we can see Jenny Simanowitz performing in her mother tongue, an English which is easy to understand and also suitable for non-native speakers.
Without wanting to give away too much, the evening includes a male “attractiveness” show, a lesson in „business-flirting“ and a challenge to women to copy some of the methods that take men to the top!
What the press says:
“Jenny Simanowitz is the thinking woman’s ( and man’s) comedienne. She is high comedy grounded in profound wisdom!”

Directed by: Joanna Godwin-Seidl
Ensemble Theater, Petersplatz 1, 1010 Wien
Starts 19:45 , Freie Platzauswahl
Thursday 21st, Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd February
About the play
When the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X met alone, what did they say to each other?
In his striking play Jeff Stetson undertook to answer that question. In a fictional setting in a Harlem Hotel the scenes in which the men reveal the shared pain behind their very different philosophies of the racial struggle are compelling.
About the vienna theatre project production
A hotel room, turned into a barren landscape, mulch on the floor reflects how nothing is constant nor can it be contained, and it falls randomly. Individual items across the theatre in the traverse theatre stage.
A strong current between the 2 actors, one depicting this gentle, quiet yet powerful strength that is reticent and all seeing, the other a power that emanates, can barely be contained in a man and energy bursting for release. The battle of these forces claiming space and territory is eminent.

It is time for the Summer Heurigen - come and celebrate our 15th anniversary!
Bring your partners and families and get together with fellow WCN members and enjoy networking at a typical lovely Viennese Heurigen in the 19th district! The annual Summer Heurigen this year will be a very special event for the WCN. After all, it's time to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Yes, it's true, the Women's Career Network in Vienna was founded already 15 years ago to serve as a resource and support network for women seeking to develop and expand their career opportunities in Austria. It has grown to have over 120 members, and to be part of a larger network, EuropeanPWN, which has over 3000 members across Europe!
Celebrate and Win!
To celebrate the upcoming 15th anniversary of the WCN, the WCN Summer Heurigen this year comes with two chances to win:
1) The first 15 WCN members to sign up will get a bottle of wine to take home. (Sorry, Steering Committee and Advisory Board members excluded.)
2) In addition, Milena Simic, owner of Hotel Landhaus St-Georg (and our newest member) has kindly donated a special wellness weekend retreat at her lovely 4-star hotel in the heart of Styria. All WCN members present are entitled to participate in winning this very special prize.
For those members not lucky enough to win the prize, Milena has made a special weekend offer available to all WCN members. Very special thanks to Milena for her contribution, and very special thanks to Elisabeth and Andrea for organizing this event!
Don’t miss out - join us for the last event of this term! Please log onto http://www.europeanpwn.net/ and register your attendance by Moday, July 16th.
Elisabeth & Andrea look forward to meeting you!

June 12-15, 2007 – Golf Course at Bad Waltersdorf Club in June
Where: Bad Waltersdorf
When: Hours Vary
Registration: Registration: Carol Phillips,carolinvienna@gmx.at
I have managed to arrange a special golf course at the Bad Waltersdorf Golf Club in the lovely "Thermenregion Steiermark". This course is special because a maximum of three players (or even a minimum of two!) get to enjoy the personal support of the golf club's pro who, because of the limited number of participants, is able to cover exactly those areas of your golf game which need attention! This course is for those who already have their "Turniererlaubnis", i.e. handicap -45, and who want to have the opportunity to improve their game with tuition tailored to meet their own individual needs. The course is extremely practical because, in addition to tuition on the driving range, the golf pro will actually play a round of golf with us on the Bad Waltersdorf course. A super opportunity!
The course is organised as follows:
Tuesday, 12.06. 09.00 - 12.00: Personal training
Wednesday, 13.06. 08.00 - 13.00: 18 hole round of golf (course management techniques) followed by personal discussion of the strengths and weakness of your game.
Thursday, 14.06. 09.00 - 12.00: Personal training incorporating those points raised by the previous day's round of golf.
Friday, 15.06. 08.00 start.
You have the chance to play a tournament (probably with just the members of the group) to improve your handicap score. This is a marvellous opportunity to play a tournament without having to play against tens of other unknown golfers, which is thus of course far more relaxed. The course costs EUR 349 (for non-members of Bad Waltersdorf). Bad Waltersdorf is also an ideal place if you chose to bring along your non-golf-playing partner with, for example, plenty of opportunity to relax at the "Therme" or go for walks in the beautiful countryside. Please let me know by latest Tuesday 5th June if you would like to join me on this course.
Best regards, Carol Phillips / carolinvienna@gmx.at

From the press release:
After the fantastic sell-out success of The Vagina Monologues in March 2007, vienna
theatre project invites you to join them with another scintillating piece of exceptional and
exciting theatre…
About the play
This British comedy-drama of coupling and uncoupling, instant attraction and inveterate
infidelity offers more than just a voyeur's peek inside somebody else's bedroom. It
exposes the raw nerve of pain that comes with the territory of love, setting off
sympathetic vibrations in anyone who has been there. Dan meets Alice, Dan falls in love
with Alice and meets Anna, Anna falls in love with Larry, Dan falls in love with Anna. Who
is Alice? ‘Closer’, an exciting, urban drama, showcasing the trials of falling in love the
modern way. From blind dates, to internet sex, from chic art exhibitions to seedy night
clubs — at some stage we have all been in that setting with those feelings.
